Neuropsychologists given fresh Air: the case of Gabby Gifford

Gabrielle Gifford had the harrowing experience of being shot in the head at point blank range by Jared Lee Loughner, a man who is sure to have a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia when the dust clears.

Gabby is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Texas and her recovery is due in part to her highly specialized rehabilitation team.

Dr. Mark Sherer is the Neuropsychologist at the helm of her cognitive rehabilitation and as a result, I am proud to say, our highly specialized profession is in some serious spotlight!

    There are endless news reports of the threats made prior to the event with Giffords taking no action to secure the event she staged. Had it not been for Gifford’s presence on that day, there would be no dead people or victims that day. I believe she actually needs to receive the death penalty for her crimes, but it may more likely be something like involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault on multiple counts.

      Oh dear, I had no idea about the warnings. Even more sadness around this horrible incident, if this is indeed so.
